At the Mobile World Congress 2022 in Barcelona, we were able to take a look at the Oppo Find X5 Pro, which will be released in local stores on March 21st. The smartphone is a high-end device that weighs 1,299 euros. And what can buyers expect in return? A genuine all-rounder, with which the Chinese manufacturer was one of the few that finally allowed itself to be tempted to rely on an IP68 certification. As a result, the Oppo Find X5 Pro is well protected against dust and water, just like the high-end cell phones from Samsung and Apple.
Oppo Find X5 Pro hands-on
Visually, the Oppo Find X5 Pro looks like a run-of-the-mill cell phone on both the front and the back. The front, with its curved display edges, is very reminiscent of a Samsung smartphone from the S range, while the back looks more unique but at the same time meaningless. Apart from a few advertising slogans from Oppo and the Swedish camera manufacturer Hasselblad, there is only one protruding camera module that houses three sensors.

The display of Oppo's newcomer measures 6.7 inches diagonally and is therefore anything but handy. Thanks to a good body-to-screen ratio of 92.7 percent and an elongated shape, the device still feels comparatively good in the hand. Merely the arrangement of the mechanical keys can be suboptimal for right-handers. These are located on either side of the phone, so clicking the power button can trigger an accidental volume rocker press. The previously mentioned display is a highlight of the Find X5 Pro. Because it does not have a Full HD resolution, but 1,440 to 3,216 pixels (QHD+).
Data sheet in the overview
The heart of the Oppo Find X5 Pro is not the optics, but the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, a flagship processor from Qualcomm. This ensures that potential users do not have to accept any restrictions in terms of performance or connectivity . Especially since the chip is supported by 12 GB of RAM. The main memory is meanwhile 256 GB.
Another highlight is the battery. Not because of the two built-in cells, each with a capacity of 2,500 mAh, but because of the quick charge function. The energy storage of the Oppo Find X5 Pro can be “filled up” with a charging power of up to 80 watts. According to the manufacturer, 50 percent can be charged in just 12 minutes in this way. The so-called wireless reverse charging, in which another device such as headphones is charged from the smartphone, is also possible with the Oppo Find X5 Pro – but with a charging power of "only" 10 watts.

Conclusion on the Oppo Find X5 Pro
In our opinion, the Oppo Find X5 Pro is unlikely to win any awards in terms of looks. But beauty is known to be in the eye of the beholder. Technically, however, the smartphone is excellently positioned, at least on paper. However, we will only be able to say how well the device actually runs and whether the high purchase price is justified after an extensive test. That's especially true for variables like battery life and camera quality.
