As Intel has now officially announced, the chip giant is taking over the Finnish tech company Siru Innovations and affiliating the R&D and GPU specialists to its Intel Graphics Team. Among other things, Intel is further strengthening its efforts to develop graphics cards from the Arc series for gamers.
Founders of the Bitboys are now with Intel
Siru Innovations, founded by former AMD and Qualcomm engineers who also founded Bitboys, a well-known 3D pioneer, in 1991, calls itself an expert in high-level APIs, such as Vulkan, OpenGL and DirectX, as well as in the Development and implementation of new architectures for GPUs.
We have deep understanding of computer graphics from high level APIs (Vulkan, OpenGL & DirectX) to Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) architecture down to the finest implementation details of its internal functionality.
We have designed, implemented, and verified major architectural innovations to our customer's GPUs which are in shipping products.
Siru Innovations
In the future, this expertise should also flow into the upcoming architectures Battlemage as Xe² HPG, Celestial as Xe³ HPG and Druid as Xe⁴ HPG, which are to follow Alchemist alias Xe HPG in the coming years.

In addition to the gaming sector, the know-how of the former Bitboys, which were taken over by ATi in 2006, is also to be used in enterprise sectors such as HPC, Hyperscale and Metal as a Service (MaaS) as well as in the area of driver assistance systems, the so-called Advanced Driver Assistance System ( ADAS), are used for mobility solutions.

In addition, Koduri, previously responsible for Intel's GPU efforts since 2017 under the long title of Intel chief architect, senior vice president of the newly formed Core and Visual Computing Group, and general manager of a new initiative to drive edge computing solutions, recalled the roots of the Bitboys and thus Siru Innovations, which are based in the Commodore 64 demo group "Future Crew" founded in 1986.
Acquisition instead of partnership
After there was talk in many places about a partnership or cooperation between Intel and Siru Innovations under the umbrella of the Intel Graphics Team, Balaji Kanigicherla, Vice President at Intel Corporation and General Manager, confirms the acquisition of the Finnish company founded in 2011 and the Incorporation into the Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics (AXG) division.

Neither side has so far released any details about the financial framework of the acquisition, which is intended in particular to lead to a symbiosis in the development of new graphic IPs and software services.
