Maintaining order in your Gmail inbox has become essential in recent times. For this there are multiple tools that promise magical solutions thanks to artificial intelligence. However, there is also a tool that, despite being more classic, has proven useful for decades to keep documents in order: folders.
If you want to keep your inbox under control, one of the best ways to do it is by using Gmail folders. How can you create one? Well, it's quite simple, and today we're here to show you how to do it in just a few steps.
Before we start, keep in mind that these are not folders as you know them. In fact, Gmail uses a label system, although they work the same way as folders. All those emails that are assigned the same label can be found in the same place. This is a very good way to keep everything you receive in your day-to-day in order.
How to create folders in Gmail from the browser
This is the first method we will see today. From the web version of Gmail you can create your 'folders' using the labels that we mentioned earlier. Before you begin, make sure you're signed in to Gmail on your computer.
Enter the Gmail website. Now, look for the gear-shaped icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Tap on See all settings.
Now, go to the Tags tab located in the options bar. Scroll down the screen and look for the Create new tag option. Here you can type the name for the new tag. If you want the label to be linked to a specific Gmail folder, check the Nest label inside box and select the one you prefer from the list. In this way, what we just created will remain as a kind of subfolder. Done. You already have your new label created.
If you want to add your emails to this newly created label, just go to the chosen email. Here, simply select Move to and then tap on your tag name.
